These terms govern your use of the My Tribe Invests app, this website, and your membership of the My Tribe Invests investor community. By creating an account you accept them.
My Tribe Invests is a collective investment community. Members pool capital to finance specific, identified opportunities, principally trade finance facilities to operating businesses. Each opportunity has its own terms, set out in a term sheet and in the investment confirmation you sign for that particular investment.
We are not a bank, a broker, or a savings product. Money you invest is committed to a specific facility, not deposited with us.
We may suspend or close an account that is being used fraudulently, that breaches these terms, or where we are required to do so.
The app shows you the investments recorded in your name. It is a record of your holdings, not the agreement itself. The terms of each investment — the amount, the tenor, the expected return, the security and the conditions — are those set out in the confirmation you signed for that investment and in the term sheet for that facility. Where the app and a signed document disagree, the signed document governs.
Figures shown in the app, including projected returns and payment schedules, are calculated from the terms recorded for your investment. They are estimates of what is expected, not a promise of what will be paid.
Withdrawal requires the notice period stated in your confirmation. Investments are not redeemable on demand.
Investing carries risk, including the risk of losing some or all of the money you invest. Expected returns are expectations, not guarantees. Security or collateral taken over a facility reduces risk but does not remove it. Past performance of any facility does not predict future results.
Nothing in the app, on this website, or in any communication from us is investment, legal, tax or financial advice, and none of it is a personal recommendation. Decide for yourself whether an investment suits your circumstances, and take independent advice if you are unsure.
You may allocate part of your investment to a co-investor. Doing so is your decision and your arrangement with that person. You confirm that you have their permission to give us their name and email address, and that any agreement between you about their share is a matter between the two of you.
We work to keep the service available, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend or withdraw features. If the app is unavailable, your investments and their terms are unaffected — they exist in the signed documents, not in the software.
We are responsible for administering your investment honestly and with reasonable care, for keeping accurate records, and for the obligations we take on in the confirmation you signed.
We are not responsible for the commercial performance of an underlying business, for losses arising from your own investment decisions, or for events outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
You can close your account at any time. Closing it does not end an investment you have already made, or release either of us from obligations under a confirmation you have signed. Those run to their agreed term.
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights, we will tell you directly. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it. Changes to these terms never alter the commercial terms of an investment you have already made.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana. Each investment is governed by the law stated in its own term sheet, which may differ.
